ALBUM REVIEW
South African sympho-prog with female vocals. Comparisons to Earth & Fire are, I suppose, inevitable, though Clair Whitaker’s voice (she was only 18 when she recorded this!) does have its own distinct timbre (and a pronounced South African accent). There’s also a male vocalist (less distinctive) who sings on a track or two, but it seems to alternate vocal and instrumental tracks. Unfortunately it peaks a bit early with the opening track, “Afrock,” an instrumental that gets cooking with bongo-drums and searing synth leads. The rest is decent without being terribly memorable (rateyourmusic).
