ALBUM REVIEW
A fairly derivative effort by this late 60's Dutch band which featured Jan Akkerman and Cyril Havermans who were better known as members of Focus and Pierre Van Der Linden later joined Ekseption. Brainbox is nothing like either one of those bands and is a hard rock band similar to Golden Earring of that era. Apart from "Reason To Believe" the covers do not work. Vocalist Kaz Lux sounds like a cross between Mountain's Leslie West and Deep Purple's Ian Gillian which if you were ever curious to hear how those bands would do "Scarborough Fair" or "Summertime", Brainbox gives you a pretty good representation. The best track on this album would be the powerful opener "Dark Rose" which features classic Jan Akkerman guitar work. Not really essential, but an interesting find for rock history buffs.
