ALBUM REVIEW
Camel's finest album of the 80's (although, to be honest, there wasn't a whole lot of competition). Nude will please diehard fans of progressive rock in that it almost entirely abandons the radio-friendly pop leanings that marred Breathless and I Can See Your House From Here. What we have here is a full-blown concept album reminiscent of The Snow Goose, albeit here the band has chosen to include a small number of vocal tracks. The record is also more akin, stylistically, to The Snow Goose than any of Camel's albums of its era. The band's distinctive brand of "smooth" symphonic prog is mixed is mixed with a number of pleasant new age-esque soundscapes, with Andy Latimer's amazing guitar lines being juxtaposed with atmospheric flute and synth-led melodies (oftentimes on successive tracks). Nude also has a slightly "eastern" flavor, most prominent on instrumental tracks like "Changing Places", in reference to the frame story of a long-forgotten Japanese WWII vet. An interesting sound that works well in most places. (Walter 12 - Rate Your Music)
