ALBUM REVIEW
Filled with bitterness, Martin Orford, keyboarder of IQ and Jadis, says goodbye to the music industry and leaves us an album full of magnificent sounds 'n' songs plus a gorgeous cover and booklet artwork. The title track, which reminds me of Kansas, Asia, Jethro Tull and Genesis, not only is a grand, it's simply miraculous. "Ray of Hope" and the sad final track "Endgame", which starts acoustically and ends almost like an early Boston song, are almost of the same quality. Listen to "Out in the Darkness", "Power and Speed" or "Grand Designs" and be happy. A bit of name dropping: John Wetton, Andy Edwards, Steve Thorne, Nick D'Virgilio, John Mitchell. Martin Orford claims, that 'this is not a progressive rock album'. He is right, because The Old Road is far more than just that. It is prog, it is AOR, it is melodic rock, and it is classic rock. And it is a final state of the art statement. (Communique - Rate Your Music)
