« Opus 1 » was initially released in 1983 by the Swedish band OPUS EST, created in 1978. It was the first band in which the composer Kent Olofsson played (guitars/bass). He became then a famous composer in modern contemporary music (chamber music, electronic music). These refined and sophisticated progressive pieces are based on dominant keyboards, dynamic drumming, and an excellent singer, with a voice not unlike Peter Hammill in his first albums. Mainly influenced by Genesis, ELP and Yes, Opus Est creates a refined synthetic progressive rock, with lots of breaks and energy.
