« Le chant des pierres/song of the stones » has been realized by the members of the french band XII Alfonso, famous among the progressive rock fans for their albums “The lost frontier”, “Odyssées”, “Monet”. But this music has nothing in common with progressive rock, except, maybe, its experimental spirit. The musicians have recorded it in a cave in the south-west of France, with imitations of pre-historic instruments. The booklet (in spanish, english and french) explains how archeological excavations have found remnants of musical activities, pieces maybe used as whistles… So the musicians play lithophones (wooden sticks, leather mallets, hands…), wooden drums, rhombus, whistles…in the cave, hitting stone with bare hands or natural instruments. It’s a fascinating travel in the past, in the paleolithic era, in a magic and spiritual world: you’ve heard nothing like this before!
