ALBUM REVIEW
During the seventies ATOLL was a major band of the french progressive rock scene. Often compared to ANGE, ATOLL's music was very different, more like Yes and more Jazz Rock /american fusion orientated. After four splendid studio albums (among which "L'araignée-Mal" en 1975, and "Tertio" in 1977), the band had to stop, just after working with John Wetton (King Crimson, UK...) on a song that became later a worldwide hit with Asia, "heat of the moment". The leader-guitar player Christian Beya recorded "L'océan" in 1989, and then nothing... until today! "Ilian-J'entends gronder la terre" is C.Beya's and Atoll's great return. This concept album, in the same vein as the great albums of the seventies, tells us the story of a traveller, coming from outer space: Ilian. He contemplates our world, with some bitterness...The narrator is Raoul Leininger, and Michel Altmayer (TROLL) gave help for the drumming. As a special guest-star, Caroline Crozat (from ANGE) on vocals.
