ALBUM REVIEW
Reissue of the only album by Pollen, the great symphonic rock band led by Jacques-Tom Rivest. Combining powerful, expressive vocals, mesmerizing melodies and mind-bending arrangements, Pollen’s self-titled album (originally released on vinyl in 1976) is one of the crown jewels in all of progressive rock. It has been out of print on CD for over a decade, but will now be re-released with an expanded booklet containing many archival photos. One of the most acclaimed and sought-after progressive rock bands from Quebec, Pollen amalgamated the sound of Yes, Genesis, and Gentle Giant but gave it a uniquely Quebecois twist, with vocals and lyrics similar to Harmonium and a continental European sound akin to bands like Ange and PFM. Fans of symphonic progressive rock with virtuoso keyboards, soaring guitar solos and dynamic multi-part compositions go wild about this album. A must!
