Ken Hensley was at his creative peak in the mid 1970s and this, his second solo outing from 1975, is a contender for his finest solo album, neck and neck with his first solo release, "Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf". "Eager To Please" probably wins out by a nose in the photo finish replay because of the contributions of former Tempest bassist Mark Clarke. Hensley, like so many young, headstrong songwriters with more than a touch of pride, seems to work best when somebody of near equal talent can contribute and help hone and define the direction of a song or album and craft a more cohesive, unified feel. Although Clarke only wrote or co-wrote two of the eleven tracks, his presence is obvious and appreciated and he seems to bring out the absolute best in Hensley. (Godwaffle - Rate Your Music)
