ALBUM REVIEW
Formed from the ashes of the late great Polish neo-prog band Collage comes Satellite. The mastermind behind Satellite is drummer Wojtek Szadkowski who was the principal songwriter for Collage. Enlisting many of his former bandmates including singer Robert Amirian, Satellite has easily set a new standard for neoprog in this century. This flowing melodic neo-prog has more than enough complexity and playing to satisfy old school progheads as well. Guitarist Mirek Gil at times reminds me of Steve Hackett but perhaps even more so Steve Rothery. The title song is an epic masterpiece that will be regarded as a classic in years to come. Overall the vibe of the album reminds me of Marillion’s Misplaced Childhood. Bottom line is that if you are a fan of Collage this is like listening to an improved version. I’ve always gone on record as not being much of a neo-prog fan but Collage was a cut above the pack. With Satellite, Szadkowski has raised the bar. The cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson who was responsible for all the great Marillion sleeves. Easily a best of 2003 candidate. Highly recommended! (Just for Kicks)
