MATRAZ is the name of a current Chilean Progressive rock band, led by the divine female singer Loreto CHAPARRO. As skilful in ethereal passages as in epic stampedes, she actually leads the music with a voice that can remind of that of Mariela GONZALEZ (NEXUS). After a promising first album ("Tiempo") released in 1999 on the Mylodon label, the five musicians clearly affirm their ambitions with today’s follow-up. "Gritare" (2004) is an album which is dominated by two opposed tendencies that were brilliantly put together here: the symphonic Progressive rock that is so dear to the South-American connoisseurs and the complex DREAM THEATER-like heavy-metal music.(Musea)
