ALBUM REVIEW
NAIKAKU is a Japanese Progressive rock duet founded in 1998 around bass-player Satoshi KOBAYASHI and flautist Kazumi SUZUKI. In other words, the listener may expect much flute and bass ! Not only this, since two fellow men contribute quite fully to their music: one on drums & percussion and one on guitar. The instrumentation of the second opus "Shell" (2006) is completed with two other musicians, respectively a guitarist and a keyboards player. The result is to say the least breathtaking, and it can evoke the improbable encounter of an overvitaminated KING CRIMSON and a JETHRO TULL under acid, everything being sprinkled with jazz-rock fusion and a touch of heavy-metal. Jointly released by the Musea and Poseidon labels, this opus will certainly delight the quality instrumental Progressive rock lovers. (Musea)
