ALBUM REVIEW
CITADEL was a French power-trio created in the year 2002, led by keyboardist-guitarist and singer Frédéric MARTIN-BOUYER. Undoubtely inspired by the local heroes NOIR DESIR, the musicians learned to evolve in the direction of the sophisticated rock played by MUSE or ARCHIVE, without forgetting some post-rock traces, early PINK FLOYD influences and the spirit of the Seventies Progressive rock scene. The work is based on a strong guitar and piano interplay, and sustained by a solid rhythmic section. The sometimes pop melodies, expressed in eleven concise songs and instrumental pieces, are full of energy. And when guest-singer Astrid KAROUAL enters the stage (On two tracks), one could really think this is a new incarnation of PAATOS, full of crimsonian riffs and Mellotron-like samples. (Musea)
