ALBUM REVIEW
Makoto KITAYAMA is known as the singer-songwriter of the Japanese Progressive rock legend SHINGETSU. After having released only one official album at the end of the Seventies, the group disbanded, and its leader recorded "Doubutsukai No Chinou" (1981) and "Hikaru Sazanami" (2000). The second one can be traced in the grand Progressive rock tradition, whereas the first one is an all-instrumental album featuring Makoto KITAYAMA overdubbing various keyboards parts. Jointly released by the Musea and Poseidon labels, "Practical Encyclopedia Of Kingdom Plantae" (2008) also belongs to that musical style. He's helped here by Takashi HAYASHI, the leader and guitarist of QUI. (Musea)
