ALBUM REVIEW
Initially known as CONTRESENS (In the Nineties), ABACAB knew how to assimilate its influences and brought a new touch into the Progressive rock landscapes. Syncopated rhythms, a present synthesis and sharp guitars are the ingredients contained in that new form of Progressive rock, touched by heavy-metal and world-music. "Mal De Terre" (Musea, 2009) is a concept-album about our modern world, de-humanized by television, decadence and pollution. ABACAB's influences include a wide spectrum from the Seventies to the Nineties. Like ANGE or MONA LISA, theatrical lyrics and singing are often in the foreground, with dreamlike atmospheres and sounds ala PINK FLOYD. But the band from northern France also develops a strong Progressive heavy-metal feel ala DREAM THEATER. Intense and well played, "Mal De Terre" is an enjoyable journey, lively and inspired: very good! (Musea)
