Black Bonzo are a contemporary band from Sweden, but their sound is firmly rooted in the prog and artrock worlds of the glorious '70s. Shades of Uriah Heep, Camel, Queen, Deep Purple, Genesis and Styx are heard within Black Bonzo's addictive sound. From the thrilling opener ‘Thorns Upon A Crown’, to the 14 minute opus and closing title cut, this album takes you on a roller coaster ride of heavy keyboard/guitar driven rock. Originally released in 2007, Sound of the Apocalypse was critically acclaimed within the progressive rock community. It is listed as one of that years top ten progressive rock releases by such illustrious European polls as the Gagliarchives Top 100 Albums of the Year and received a nomination for Best Foreign Album at Progawards 2007 – putting the album on a par with releases from the genres heavy hitters such as Porcupine Tree, Rush, Dream Theater, and Riverside.
